Course Details
The aim of course is to provide individuals with the skills and knowledge to undertake an accident investigation including how to effectively Investigate Accidents and determine: Immediate; Underlying and Root Causal factors.

- Understand the legal, moral and financial reasons to investigate accidents
- Recognise the key parts of accident investigation systems as per the HSE Guidance in HSG 245
- Examine how to identify the Immediate; Underlying and Root Causal factors in an accident investigation
- Recognise how safety management systems such as HSG 65 are linked to the accident investigation
- Demonstrate how to use questioning and communication techniques during an accident investigation.
- How to avoid some of the pitfalls and poor practice which affects the accident investigation process
- Use a case study to explore and complete the accident investigation forms recommended in HSG 245
- Recognise relevant issues around ‘Behavioural Safety’ that link to Accident Investigations
Who should attend?
All staff that have a responsibility to investigate accidents within the workplace as required under: HSG 65; The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999;
