First Aid at Work


Course Details

This initial First Aid at Work course looks at the requirements to provide basic First Aid knowledge within an organisation. Our First Aid at Work Initial Course complies with the current Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 amended October 2009. Successful participants receive certificates, approved by HSE, and accredited by FAIB to show that they are qualified to be First Aiders in the workplace for the next three years.

  • Provide emergency first aid at work
  • Administer first aid to casualties with: injuries to bones, muscles and joints, including suspected spinal injuries;
  • Chest injuries
  • Burns and scalds
  • Anaphylactic shock

  • Sudden poisoning
  • Recognise the presence of major illness and provide appropriate first aid (including heart attack, stroke, epilepsy, asthma, diabetes).

Successful participants will receive an FAIB approved certificate valid for 3 years

This qualification is via end of course and continual assessment by the trainer.  An HSE approved, FAIB accredited, certificate, valid for 3 years, will be issued to those who meet the criteria.

This course complies with The Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 or Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1982 for FAW and EFAW

 

Who should attend?

Any person who is to be designated as a First Aider at work. All employers in the UK have a legal obligation to make First Aid provision for their employees.
